This afternoon Jill Rappaport appeared on HSN to launch her new leash and collar line for dogs and cats. It's appropriately called the "Rescued Me" Collection. Each collar and leash has a cute saying on it showing the world that your pet was rescued.
I was anxious to hear what the sayings were, but they were top secret and I just found out today when I watched the segment. For the dog collar/leash set, which comes in purple, lime, orange or turquoise, the sayings are "Opt to Adopt", "I'm a Heart Melter from a Shelter", "I'm a Pound Hound" and "Rescued Me". The break-away cat collar, which comes in blue or red, says either "A Shelter Cat is Where It's At" or "Smitten by My Rescue Kitten".
There are two things I love about the line. First, a portion of all sales will go directly back to the animals. Jill is donating to animal cancer and to shelters. Second, she got HSN to allow a local shelter, The Suncoast Animal League, to bring in adoptable cats and dogs to model the line - a first for HSN. And, according to Suncoast's facebook page, one of the dogs, Rocky, did not even leave with them because an HSN employee adopted him! Congrats Rocky! I really wanted to adopt you too! Suncoast has also gotten many, many calls about all the other animals featured on the show. They are in Florida and have interest all the way from Hawaii. That warms my heart.
Jill will be on HSN again Friday at 11:00 am ET. She will be featuring more pets up for adoption, which will hopefully mean more pets finding their forever homes. Thank you Jill for bringing awareness to shelters and rescues, and for honoring those who choose to adopt through those channels! As Jill said to me in an email, her line is "for all of you who have opened up your hearts and homes by adopting."
