Today I learned over on Lipsticking that August 14th is a day to say something postive about life. It stems from a request made by Scott Monty from Ford. Ok, I can get on board with that. I need some positivity on this blog right now!
For starters, my life is a good life. I can complain as well as anyone, but really I'm rather fortunate. I have a healthy relationship with my husband (and healthy does not mean we never argue!), I have a good kid whose teenage years are shaping up to be eventful and I have my dogs. These four mammals are my support system. They love me, believe in me, enlighten me and keep me feeling alive.
Since this is a blog about my pets, I'll focus my positively Tuesday on them. (Pardon my pictures. I've not been taking real good ones lately.)
Twiggy and Onyx are quite the pair. Twiggy is regal, high maintenance and full of attitude, but in the most adorable way. She's not much of snuggler, but she's always tuned in to me. Sometimes she lets me know she's paying attention by just raising her head and giving me a certain look. She's rather dependable in her actions and her routine. She has a bed time and she pretty much sticks to it! Onyx looks up to Twiggy. He often runs around making sure he's sniffed what she sniffs, checked out what she's interested in and makes sure he's in on any action. But Onyx is playful and more like velcro to me. While Twiggy doesn't move unless she's positive it's required, Onyx moved every time I do. He follows me around the house, waits for me at every door and is eager to do anything I ask of him - except not pull on his leash when we walk with Twiggy!
Twiggy, Onyx and I are quite the threesome. Since they spend most days with me they have a certain expectation to always be included. But, they know when it's not their turn because they get yummy treats when I leave. I guess all together we have our set of routines and they are probably the only routines I adhere to. I'm not much of a routine person, but when it comes to dogs one has to make exceptions.
Twiggy and Onyx fill my life with positivity, laughter, smiles, energy and even calm. As a matter of fact, I think I'll take a little break right now so that I can give them each a little love...when really, it's me getting all the love!
