Two great things have happened recently. First, BlogPaws Be the Change for Pets and World Vets joined forces to create The Blogger Disaster Response Network (BDRN). Now when a disaster strikes we have a network of bloggers and micro-bloggers (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Etc.) who will receive info to share and spread the word. It feels great to be in the roots of the movement and a big thank you to Dr. Jessica Vogelsang (Dr.V) for seeding the idea! If you are interested you can read more about it here and sign up here.
And along those lines, if you are in the path of Hurricane Sandy, here are a few places to get more info about how to prepare for evacuation with pets:
NYC cabs cannot turn down pets during times of evacuation
Also, because of the announcement about the BDRN, I happened upon a new blog and a new blog hop. Create With Joy holds a weekly blog hop called Inspire Me Monday. This Monday is the 43rd week of the blog hop, but the first one that I've known about it. Since the BDRN was already making me feel inspired, it seemed appropriate to join the blog hop and express my appreciation for both of them.
I've been inspired many times over recent years by the pet community, both online and offline. The way everyone bands together when a group effort is needed is definitely inspiring. Whether it's an ill pet, a natural disaster affecting pets, a cause to benefit pets or a pet that has crossed to the Rainbow Bridge, pet people stick together. Thank you to each and every one of you. I'm inspired daily.
