I find the idea of resilience inspiring and I think each and every one of us harnesses more resilience that we give ourselves credit for. Somewhere along the way, the world decided to focus on the negative, the tragedies, the obstacles. People in general seem to be fascinated by misfortune, in an almost unhealthy way.
This is not to say that there is never focus on accomplishments or achievements. It's just something I notice in my every day life. From myself to my husband to my daughter, we all seem to notice the tough stuff first. We seem to resonate with the feeling of struggle. From allowing a short coming to overshadow an accomplishment to setting expectations so high it's nearly impossible to feel good about the outcome, we find ourselves always working hard to feel positive about everything in our lives.
But, to our credit, we do find those times. We do rise to the occassion (on occasion) and feel pride. Even confidence. The world in general does this more than anyone acknowledges. Today I find myself inspired by resilience and hopeful that the coming year will be more about that than anything else.
