I'm in the car buying business right now. I have been since early January. Car buying this time around is a slow process. It's not that I'm unhappy with my car. I've just decided I'd like a lower payment and better gas mileage. I do a lot of driving these days and filling up twice a week is just not acceptable.
So, without knowing a thing, my husband sends me a text asking me if I got the email with the Subaru. The email contained a picture of a 2013 Subaru XV that he just happened to see on the road. The text proof:
You can see I always reply quickly when my husband texts me. :) He was right. The car is cute. It has several great features actually. We went to a local dealer on February 16th and test drove one. He was no Grant Weber, but he was pretty good.
The XV was a nice smooth ride. Something to do with the CVT - Continuous Variable Transmission. It actually makes the automatic get better gas mileage than the standard. Not something I was happy about because I miss driving a standard car and the gas mileage thing was going to be my excuse to get one. Darn it.
Anyway, the back seat allows for Twiggy and Onyx to have plenty of room, while still giving me a smaller car feel - I like handling smaller cars more than SUVs. Plus, they have some great options for the car to make it extra dog friendly! Stuff like that makes me very happy. AND, while we were looking at the car there was a very big Doberman hanging out inside the dealership. They are totally dog friendly! I call that Dog Tested. Dog Approved!TM
I'll share my follow up experience with my car search and whether or not I end up in the Subaru XV. We are going back in this week to talk numbers and see if they have a car with all the options I want. I will say that our Subaru salesman, Anthony, is very friendly and attentive without being pushy. Always a good thing.
Meanwhile, we are teaching Onyx to drive and just got him his license!
